The Arson Prevention Program for Children
If your child has been setting fires, The Arson Prevention Program for Children, also called TAPP-C, can help you and your child.

Peel Children's Centre works with your local fire department to provide this service.

Can your child use our program?
Your child can use our TAPP-C program

  • if your child is under 18 years old and lives in the Region of Peel,
  • if he or she has been setting fires, and
  • if you will give permission for your child to have some tests, called an assessment, to learn about why your child has been setting fires.

What do we do?
We will talk to you and your child, and do some tests.

  • We will check your home to see how safe it is.
  • We will teach your child and your family about fire safety.
  • We will do an assessment to learn about your child's mental health and whether he or she is likely to set more fires in the future.

We will also make suggestions for your child’s treatment.
