The 21st Annual Mary Neville Award

Since 1988, Peel Children’s Centre has asked children’s mental health professionals working within the Peel community to help honour their peers who best embody prevention and early intervention treatment approaches in their work with children.

The Mary Neville Award was created in honour of the late Mary Neville — a former Prevention Coordinator for Peel Children’s Centre.  Throughout her career, Mary made valuable contributions to the area of children’s mental health. Mary’s work particularly focused on the positive outcomes that resulted when employing prevention and early intervention treatment methods.

This year’s Mary Neville Award will be presented to an individual from the Peel community who is judged to have made the most significant contributions to children’s mental health. If you know of an individual who deserves such recognition, please take a moment to share their accomplishments with us.

The award presentation will take place at our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Mississauga Convention Centre.

About Mary Neville

Mary joined Peel Children’s Centre at its inception in October 1985 and played a very significant role with us, focusing her efforts in the areas of prevention and early intervention. At the time of Mary’s retirement, the Centre created the annual Mary Neville Award to honour her many commitments and contributions to the field of mental health, both while at the Centre and throughout her career.

Mary was the first recipient of the Mary Neville Award, but has since been joined by a very distinguished list of recipients whose wonderful contributions have made, and continue to make, a significant difference in the lives and well-being of children, youth and families in our community.

Mary passed away in 2002.  Thank you, Mary — your inspiration will live on in all of us.
