Community Counselling:
Community Counselling - For ProfessionalsOur Nexus Youth Services — Community Counselling Program offers individual and group counselling for adolescents and young adults. We help them build on their strengths and develop their coping skills so that they can make a smooth transition into adulthood.
Who is eligible to use our program?Typically, the youth who use our program
- are 12 to 24 years of age,
- live in the Region of Peel, and
- want to make changes on their own, without involving their family in the process.
What do we do?We work with youth to meet their needs and build on their strengths. The program is designed to improve how they function at home, school, work, and in the community. We also provide them with links to community resources and supports.
We begin with a single session, which is part of our Step One to Success (SOS) service. During this session, we discuss a particular concern and make recommendations.
Youth may choose to return for additional SOS sessions as needed. They may also choose ongoing counselling with one of our clinicians, but there may be a wait for this service.
After youth leave the program, we encourage them to return whenever they need support.
