The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C)
The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C) is an out-client service that provides assessment and brief interventions for children who have been involved in setting fires.

This program is a collaboration of Peel Children's Centre and the Fire and Emergency Services of Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon.

Who is eligible to use our program?
Our program is for children under 18 years of age who live in the Region of Peel and have been involved in setting fires. These children and their families must also be willing to participate in a TAPP-C assessment.

What do we do?
Our program comprises these three parts:
  1. a home safety inspection conducted by the relevant municipal fire service,
  2. fire safety education (also provided by the municipal fire service), and
  3. mental health assessments of the child and family, including an assessment of the child’s risk of setting future fires.

We also make clinical recommendations for the child’s ongoing treatment.
