Mental Health Services for Children and Youth (Centralized Intake):
Mental Health Services for Children and Youth (Centralized Intake)Our program is a telephone-based intake service that evaluates clients' needs and issues through preliminary assessments conducted by qualified intake workers. Following comprehensive evaluations, clients are referred to the various mental health programs and services that are suitable for their particular case. The network of services is provided by these four organizations:
- Associated Youth Services of Peel,
- Nexus Youth Services,
- Peel Children’s Centre, and
- Trillium Health Centre – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
What do we do?
During the referral call, a qualified intake worker:
- assesses the child’s or youth's eligibility for service,
- schedules a telephone intake appointment,
- collects information about the child’s or youth's social, emotional, and/or behavioural difficulties,
- determines the appropriate service for the child or youth, and
- gives the information gathered to the identified service provider.
Who is eligible for these services?
We offer services for children and youth under 25 years of age and their families. We provide aid for those:
- who are dealing with mental health challenges, and
- who live in the Region of Peel or, for some programs, in Dufferin County or Halton Region.
Mental Health Services for Children and Youth (Centralized Intake) provides a seamless referral process to facilitate quality mental health services for children and youth by minimizing service gaps and duplication.
