Connect:
Connect ProgramOur Connect Program is a therapeutic, recreational program that provides intensive intervention in and support for every aspect of the life of a child with serious mental health problems.
Who is eligible for this program? To be eligible for our Connect Program, these children must
- be 7 to 15 years of age and live in the Region of Peel,
- be currently involved or be likely to become involved with Peel Children’s Aid Society,
- be at risk of losing their place at home or in school, and
- have problems regulating their moods and emotions, or exhibit severely disruptive behaviour toward others.
The families of these children typically have multiple stressors, and limited coping and problem-solving abilities.
What do we do?We provide an intensive program that helps families and children with serious mental health problems deal with every aspect of their lives.
- We help children develop appropriate social skills and give them opportunities to interact positively with their peers.
- We help children develop the inner resources they need to deal with their life at home, at school, and in the community.
- We provide the family with positive experiences, opportunities to develop their parenting skills, and treatment to help them keep their family together.
Our Connect Program involves three main activities: a parent and child group, individualized counselling, and an after-school program.
