Counselling ServicesOur Counselling Services help children improve their functioning skills at home, in school, and in the community. Conducted in office-based settings, counselling therapy focuses on building upon clients' strengths to ensure progressive development.
Who is eligible for our services?
To be eligible for our Counselling Services,
- the child must be under 18 years of age,
- the child must live in the Region of Peel,
- the child must have mild-to-moderate impairment in the home, school, or in the community, and
- the child's needs can be met with office-based counselling on a weekly, or a less frequent basis.
What do we do?
With collaborative teamwork, we pair our efforts with that of the family's.
We aim to:
- to restore and enhance their unique problem-solving and coping skills,
- to increase their ability to cope with difficult stages in their lives, and
- to increase the child's ability to adjust within the family, school, and community.
All clients begin with Single-Session Therapy (SST). Families are able to access as many SST appointments as needed. If the child or family needs more than three single sessions, we offer two options:
- The child or family may call whenever they need counselling services, but they may meet with a different clinician every time,
- The child or family may choose ongoing counselling with a consistent clinician, but there will be a wait for this service.
The needs of the child determine the duration of counselling treatment.
