Crisis Response:
Crisis Response Services
Our Crisis Response Services offer immediate aid for children/youth and their families who are dealing with imminent mental health crises. Peel Children's Centre provides a two-tiered response service via telephone and on-stie visits to the clients' home, school, or any other location in the community.
Who is eligible for our services?
Our services are for children/youth who have serious mental health crises. We serve those who:
- are under 18 years of age, and
- live in the Region of Peel
What do we do?
We provide a two-tiered response service that is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- On the telephone, our trained health professionals assess the crisis and the risks, then initiate the appropriate measures needed to stabilize the situation.
- When these activities are not possible via telephone, our trained health professionals visit the child/youth's home, school or any other location in the community. We assess the risk and initiate a safety plan on-site.
- We coordinate services with other agencies, such as Peel Children's Aid Society and hospitals.
- We arrange for follow-up services.
- If needed, we provide interim counselling until longer-term services can be established.
How can children/youth and families in crisis access these services?
Children/youth and families in crisis may access these services by calling our dedicated crisis response number 416-410-8615. This number is free for anyone within the Region of Peel.
