Parent-Operated Residential Treatment ProgramOur Parent-Operated Residential Treatment Program is a temporary placement for children with mental health needs that could be met through an out-of-home placement.
We offer a placement that is more family-like than traditional residential treatment placements.
Who is eligible for our program?
Our program is appropriate for children
- who are between 7 and 17 years of age,
- who live in the Region of Peel, and
- who have a combination of mental health needs that cannot be successfully met within their current home or placement.
We offer a unique opportunity for children and their families to resolve issues in their relationship. We negotiate all treatment strategies and goals for the child’s placement in the parent-operated treatment residence with the family.
We tailor treatment to the needs of the child, while he or she lives in a family-like, therapeutic environment for about 1 year.
We help the family maintain existing contacts within their community, whenever possible. For example, the child continues to attend the same school and can continue his or her recreational activities in the community.
