Group Services:
Group ServicesOur Group Services is an out-client service that offers a spectrum of educational, treatment and support groups for children, youth and their families.
Our goal in these groups is to help children and youth better meet expectations for how they function at home, in school, and in the community.
Who is eligible for these groups? To be eligible for our groups,
- children must be under 18 years of age, and
- children and their caregivers must live in the Region of Peel.
What do we do?Our Group Services gives children and parents opportunities to interact with and learn from each other. All groups provide information and resources on specific topics.
Child and parent treatment groups run concurrently to allow both the child and parent to gain skills that help them better manage the challenges in their lives.
Children and youth can also benefit from our psycho-educational, life-skills and social-skills groups. A clinician provides information and facilitates the group discussion and problem-solving.
Educational groups for parents are accompanied by supervised children’s activity groups where children develop social skills in a structured setting with peers.
Depending on the nature of the group, it may have 6 to 25 participants and last from 6 to 10 weeks. These are some of the groups we currently offer:
- Helping Children Through Separation and Divorce,
- Parenting Your Teen,
- Learning about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD),
- COPEing with Challenging Behaviours,
- COPEing with Toddler Behaviour,
- Temper Taming, Boys and Parents,
- Go Grrls! Club,
- The Incredible Years,
- Feling Good about Being You, A Group for Moms, and
- Feeling C.A.L.M. (Combat Anxiety and Learn to Manage).
Childcare is available for some groups.
