ICF Service (age 7-17):
Intensive Child and Family Service (for children 7 to 17 years of age)Our Intensive Child and Family Service provides intensive, individualized treatment for children 7 to 17 years of age who have serious complex mental health issues.
Who is eligible for this service? In general, our service is for children
- who may be at risk of harming themselves or others,
- who may be about to lose their placement at home, school, or childcare,
- who have moderate-to-severe impairment in the home, school, or community, and
- who live in environments where they may be exposed to violence; physical, sexual, or emotional abuse; alcohol or other substance abuse; or caregivers with mental health issues.
Our service helps families
- who are experiencing multiple stresses,
- who have poor problem-solving skills, and
- who have been unable to benefit from traditional agency services.
What do we do?First, our multi-disciplinary team meets with the child and family for intensive counselling in our Step-In Clinic. Then, in consultation with the child and family, the team develops a treatment plan that focuses on the child’s and family’s needs, and builds on individual and family strengths.
Treatment may include
- crisis intervention,
- individual and family therapy,
- support for parents in the home, skills training, or group services,
- advocacy and collaboration with other service providers, and
- psychological and psychiatric assessment and consultation.
We offer this treatment in the family home, at school, or in the community at a time that is convenient for the family.
