Wraparound Process — Developmental Services
Our Peel Wraparound Process - Developmental Services are community-based outreach services for families whose complex mental health needs have not been met with previous services or programs. Families choose formal or informal support systems to "wrap around" their family.
Who is eligible for this service?
We offer this service to children under 18 years of age
- who have a diagnosis of developmental disability,
- who have complex needs that no single service can meet, and
- whose families have multiple stressors, and diminished coping and problem-solving abilities.
Typically, these children are at risk of:
- harming themselves or others, and
- losing their place at home or in school.
What do we do?
In collaboration with the family, our team first identifies the family's needs and strengths. Then, we develop an individualized plan that outlines effective problem-solving methods that will help resolve conflicts at home, in school, and in the community.
Together, with this team of family members, friends, neighbours, and service providers, we work with the child and family to strengthen their skills, resources, and support.
We provide unconditional care and commitment. If things do not work out as planned, Wraparound clinicians do not give up. Instead, we work with the family, and together, we redesign the original plan to better serve their wants and needs.
