Peel Wraparound Process - DS:
Wraparound Process — Developmental ServicesOur Peel Wraparound Process — Developmental Services is a community-based outreach service that helps families with complex mental health needs who have not had success with traditional services. Families choose formal and informal supports to "wrap around" their family.
Who is eligible for this service? We offer this service to children under 18 years of age
- who have a diagnosis of developmental disability,
- who have complex needs that no single service can meet, and
- whose families have multiple stressors, and diminished coping and problem-solving abilities.
Typically, these children
- are at risk of harming themselves or others, and
- are at risk of losing their place at home or in school.
What do we do?After discovering what the family's needs and strengths are, we help the family and their team to develop a plan to meet these needs at home, in the school, and in the community.
Together with this team comprised of family members, friends, neighbours, and service providers, we work with the child and family to strengthen their skills, resources, and links to supports within the family and the community.
We provide unconditional care and commitment. If things do not work out as planned, the wraparound process does not stop. Instead, we work with the family and their team to develop a new plan that will meet the needs of the child and family.
