Residential Services:
Residential Treatment ProgramOur Residential Treatment Program provides a safe, accepting, supportive environment for temporary out-of-home treatment of children experiencing serious social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
Who is eligible for our services?Typically, our residential services are for children
- who are between 7 and 17 years of age,
- whose parents or legal guardians live in the Region of Peel or Dufferin County,
- who are at risk of losing their place in the home,
- who have moderate-to-severe levels of impairment at home and in the community or in their relationships, moods, or emotions,
- whose families or guardians have multiple stressors, resulting in limited coping and problem-solving abilities, and
- whose families or guardians will participate in developing, implementing and revising their child’s treatment plan.
What do we do?We offer families temporary residential treatment
- to re-energize,
- to broaden their repertoire of choices, and
- to prepare for their child’s return to the community.
Our multi-disciplinary teams offer treatment for children and their families that builds on their strengths
- to help them learn and practise new skills,
- to foster understanding of others, and
- to achieve the goals that are important to them.
We encourage families to be active partners throughout the treatment process.
During the final transitional phase to the community, we provide support and resources to help the child and his or her family consolidate their gains.
The length of treatment depends on the probable benefit from continued service at any given time. We review each child’s progress and regularly acknowledge accomplishments and plan future directions.
